The term Integrative Review, in English or Portuguese, in the title, abstract, or issue, depending on the database, was used to locate the studies. The search was performed in March 2013. After identification of all studies, analysis was done to select those for the IR, according to the study-guiding question and the inclusion criteria cited above. Our integrative review of existing studies regarding the effects of SBL among nursing students from published scientific articles, but our study did have limitations. It is possible that we did not find all of the articles on this subject, due to variance in key words or search terms.

The aim of this review was to examine nurses’ knowledge and attitudes about palliative care, to identify gaps to improve care of patients and families facing death. An integrative review method guided this review. After implementation of a search strategy, data from 26 studies were analyzed and synthesized. This integrative review was intended to identify the findings of nursing-specific studies of health promotion activities published in the period 1998–2011. We identified 40 relevant English research papers. Most of these studies were published between 2005 and 2009.
